Welcome to SaveMartin.org — the official campaign page to support the creation of the Martin County Land Bank (MCLB) through a Local Bill by end of session 2027.
The proposed Martin County Land Bank Act would establish a permanent source of revenue to acquire, hold, and manage important open spaces and endangered landscapes for the use of the enjoyment of the general public.
We’re working to protect open space, clean water, and the character of our county — forever.
Backed by a proven model from Nantucket , the MCLB(Martin County Land Bank) would be a self-funded way to preserve the best of Martin County without raising property taxes.
The concept combines two ideas, Land Banking and Real Estate Transfer Fees to Preserve and Maintain the Martin County Difference.
This way we can continue to enjoy our Good Nature and Character that Counts into Perpetuity.
This plan allows Martin County to tie a solution directly to one of our biggest problems.
Highly speculative real estate markets consume our precious open space.
The market would be the source of the funding for its protection.
The Martin County Land Bank will acquire and preserve land — for parks, water quality, wildlife, and public access.
It will be governed by an elected 7-member board and funded by a 2% real estate transfer fee (paid only at the time of sale).

A: No. The Land Bank is funded by a small fee at the time of property sales, not ongoing taxes.

A: Parks, nature preserves, wetlands, access points, trail networks, and clean water buffer zones.

A: About $44 million per year, based on recent sales and after exemptions.

A: No. It’s a countywide initiative, like Nantucket’s.
